What a honey hunting adventure!!

I just got back from an incredible honey hunting tour in Nepal with Best Heritage Tour and I have to say, it was one of the most thrilling and unique experiences of my life. The journey took me to a remote village in the Annapurna region, where the indigenous Gurung community has been practicing the ancient tradition of honey hunting for centuries. Watching these skilled hunters climb dizzying heights on handmade rope ladders to harvest wild honeycombs from massive cliffs was both scary and awe-inspiring.
The honey itself was absolutely fascinating. Named and famous as mad honey because of its slight hallucinogenic effects when consumed in larger amounts. I tried a little under their guidance and it gave me a warm, relaxed feeling and nothing too crazy, just a mild buzz. The taste was unlike anything I’d had before-rich, floral and slightly bitter. Beyond the honey hunting itself, the experience of staying in a traditional Gurung village was just as memorable. I was welcomed like a family member, enjoying home-cooked meals, local rice wine and stories around the fire. The hike to the hunting site was challenging but breathtaking, with stunning mountain views and lush forests. If you're looking for an adventurous tour, I highly recommend this tour. It’s not just about the honey- it’s about culture, tradition and witnessing something truly extraordinary.
