Hidden Gem with Stunning Views and Rich Culture

By: Hayden Stuart

Tamang heritage trail trek was best for me as I was looking for a trekking destination in Nepal that offers both breathtaking natural beauty and a chance to immerse myself in Tibetan culture. Since this trail start to gain popularity lately, the area was less crowded because of which I got to explore the authentic tamang culture and Nepal’s northern mountains which was untouched by the outsider. The trek was filled with the spectacular views of the Ganesh Himal, the Gosainkundu Range and the Langtang Range. During this trek I explored the Langtang National Park and saw many wildlife including red panda. Seeing this animals was an amazing experience and thanks to our guide Sadan Gurung, who helped us to spot this animal. He also shared some interesting facts about red panda like their diets, habitats, and behaviors.

One of the highlight of this trek for me was exploring the cultural heritage of Tamang people who had lived in this area for centuries. Exploring the tamang village like gatlang, nagthlali and thuman was great experience. Interacting with local people and understanding their daily lifestyle was great part of this trek for me. Their warm hospitality and distinct customs make a meaningful experience. I also visited Thuman monastery and kyanjin gompa, which helped me to know the ancient tradition of people living in those areas. I also took the tour of a local cheese factory and taste the famous yak cheese produced in the area.

Through this trek I got the opportunity to enjoy the unspoiled beauty of Nepal and learn about tamang culture. Thanks to Best Heritage Tour who made this trek possible for me.
